Family Origin

It is evident that many of the Roush families of America with the various spellings, are of the same origin. Most of the families listed as emigrants as having come to America between 1732 and 1743 we believe to be of the same immediate families of Jacob (T.) Rausch, 1732, the Jacob Rausch who settled in Windsor Township, Berk's County, Pennsylvania, and the John Adam Rausch, of 1736, the first ancestor of Volume I. Reference should be made to "The History of The Roush Family in America," by Lester Le Roy Roush, published in 1928.

Burial places of the Roush brothers who fought in the Revolutionary War.

The Roush Chapter Sons of the Revolution in Pomeroy, Meigs County, Ohio is in the process of being formed. It is named for the nine brothers and one first cousin of the nine brothers all of whom lived in the area and fought in the American Revolution. Membership is open to males age 21 or older whom have a direct, blood-related ancestor who was a soldier in the American Revolution (service at the Battle of Pt. Pleasant is not accepted).  For information, contact Keith D. Ashley.

Roush family Song of the Roush (Rausch) & Allied Families Association of America, Inc.

This song is sung to the tune of "Carry Me Back to Old Virginia."  Words were written by Dwight I. Roush.  This song is sung at all National Roush Reunions and at some separate branch Roush Reunions.  This recording was made by Mary Dofner and played on a "Roush" piano crafted circa 1903-1907 in the Roush brothers piano/organ factory in Clarinda, Iowa.  William and Harvey Roush were Mary's great, great uncles.  This piano was acquired by Mary and Emmett Dofner in August 2002.  It was found by Robert Henke, a Roush cousin on the Page County, IA fair grounds.  It was restored by Laverne Goss and was tuned by Walter Hansen, both from Council Bluffs, IA.  The accompaniment music changes keys three times, once for each verse.  Listen to the recording here.  (big file - takes about 6 minutes to load with a high speed connection but it is worth the wait)
